The inclusion of heritage conservation in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, target 11.4, stimulated a broad dialogue among practitioners intent on framing meaningful role assets historic built environments as contributors to sustainable development. Heritage-led regeneration positively impacts many aspects society, community life, and public realm, can also play an important reaching zero-carbon environmental goals by slowing extraction natural resources construction, reducing quantity building materials sent landfills, using traditional technologies knowledge reduce operational energy use. Heritage be strong contributor economic growth, restored reused properties create wealth, serve social magnets, attract prestige visitors. However, there is little progress towards positioning focal point multilateral public-private co-financing projects partnerships. In 2021, Cultural Finance Alliance (CHiFA) published research about successful models urban that engage cooperation. CHiFA now presents process, developed part study commissioned Inter-American Bank (IDB), advancing maximize investment heritage-led regeneration, matching financing strategies with local opportunities, legal frameworks, enabling tools, requirements prospective investors. result marketplace ecosystem support civic interests through long-term, multi-party collaboration blended capital development strategy.
